As part of our celebration of Andrew and Doggday, every year we come out with a new hat. Over the years the hats have been of almost every color and have become almost instantly recognizable, and thanks to you our hats have been seen throughout the world.
Doggday is a celebration, not a time to grieve so we never, ever considered a black hat. Until now, this year is different and appropriate for a black hat – it is a time to honor those we have lost since our founding, and those who in the last year have suffered the terrible cost of this tragic pandemic.
And while we may all disagree about politics, it is inherent in the Foundation’s mission to provide opportunities for the less advantaged and to strive for racial equality. The 2020 Dogg Open black hat is not only to honor those who are so worthy and greatly missed, but also an affirmation of our mission – to help young people to reach their potential.
Thank you all for your continuing support in these difficult times. If anyone wants a hat and did not get one, please email [email protected]. And please keep sending us your pictures of the hats travels.
