Grassroots Tennis & Education Center provides free, year-round comprehensive programing after school, on weekends and in the summer, to children ages 5-18 who qualify for free/reduced-price lunch. More than 250 children are bused to the center after school where they receive healthy snacks, homework support and tennis instruction. Grassroots is a chapter of the USTA National Junior Tennis and Learning Network.
The Steven Alexander Kroll and the Andrew K. Dwyer Scholarships will support the 8th grade students each year. Off the court the 8th graders are getting homework support and they engage in college and career readiness workshops and discussions. The 8th graders participate in tennis instruction throughout the year to equip them with enough skills to participate and play on their high school teams. The students have the opportunity to participate in the Junior Coach program. This program allows them to teach tennis, serve as role models for younger students and give back to the program.
