Another beautiful day and extraordinary turnout, Doggday’22 certainly did not disappoint, and thanks to so many it was a wonderful financial success. Would the hangover from Covid reduce attendance? Would the construction at the Bedford Golf and Tennis Club (our venue and longtime partner) reduce activities and dim participation? Not a chance.

Our golf event was sold out with 92 golfers, our tennis tournament continues to grow - for the first time the next generation participated as Andrew’s nephews joined the fray.

After the tennis and golf prizes were awarded, over 200 attendees gathered for cocktails and dinner. Andy Dwyer recapped the progress and grants over the last year, before presenting the Foundation Award to Gordie and Cecily Grand for their extraordinary support over the last 19 years.

Our auctioneers supreme Cush Donelan and Dede Brooks then took the microphone to raise money to support our programs and scholarships- it is great fun to watch them work, and even better knowing the money makes such a difference.

And of course there was music and dancing. Without the Clubhouse it was different, but no less enthusiastic and enjoyable. That said, it is fitting that next year our 20th, Bedford will have finished its new Clubhouse and there will be more space.
