The AKDF is excited to support the extraordinary effort of Able Athletics, which holds sessions in the fall, winter, and spring with programs in lacrosse, field hockey, flag football, soccer, volleyball, and wheelchair lacrosse. Able was initially founded by two teenage brothers with a passion for lacrosse and a vision to help their sister and others like her who could not participate in mainstream sports. With the support of their parents, the Dias brothers quickly enlisted friends and soon coaches as they expanded their programs to accommodate a broader range of children in need with additional programs and venues. Able Athletics holds 12 sessions in the fall, winter, and spring with 20 children and 40 volunteers (including coaches and physical therapists) with programs in lacrosse, field hockey, flag football, soccer, volleyball, and wheelchair lacrosse. The efforts of so many volunteers and the indomitable spirit of the participants make the AKDF proud to be part of the Able community.
