When Cindy Dwyer decided to step down from the Waterside School board after fifteen years of tireless and productive service, the AKDF board – without her knowledge – decided that nothing would be more fitting for the Foundation or please Andrew more, than to create a scholarship fund in Cindy's name at Waterside.
The AKDF approached Waterside with an offer of an initial gift of $100,000 and a commitment of $50,000 more over time. The School was, to use their words, both overjoyed and humbled. |
The next day citing Cindy's enduring impact on the School, Waterside took the extraordinary step of deciding to match 2:1 any funds contributed by the Foundation or donated in Cindy's honor to establish the Cindy Dwyer Endowed Scholarship Fund – a legacy piece that will be forever; that will provide opportunities for those young and deserving; and that will honor Cindy in a manner befitting. And so, another wonderful chapter in the Foundation's continuing relationship begins.
