Doggday 07

Once again, Dogg Day was a huge success! Thanks to the generosity of your friends and family, the Andrew K. Dwyer Foundation was able to raise over $185,000 at Dogg Day 2007 and will continue to make a real difference in the lives of the underserved children in New York and Connecticut. We are grateful for your support and know that Andrew would be very proud of his legacy.

Since its inception, the purpose of the Foundation has been to honor Andrew’s memory through efforts which provide educational and extra-curricular opportunities to those less advantaged, support activities which bring humor and laughter into the life of young people in challenging environments, and encourage a spirit of volunteerism in others.

Below is a list of our most recent grants:
East Harlem School, Bronx Preparatory School, Waterside School, Calvin Hill Day Care Center, Memorial Sloane Kettering Hospital Fund for Children, and the First Tee.

Doggday 06

It was supposed to be too cold and windy in October, but the weather was delightful and the Bedford countryside resplendent in its finest fall foliage. A capacity crowd of golfers teed off in 60 degree weather while the tennis tournament basked in the October sun. After a prize ceremony and dinner, the Foundation held its second auction which once again was a great fund raiser. Many thanks to all who made it fun and such a success- particularly the many donors for their wonderful contributions and Dede Brooks auctioneer extraordinaire!

This year we missed the incomparable Ben Cameron but thanks to John Hyland we had a wonderful band and the party really kept rolling. With over 250 in attendance and over $185,000 raised, Doggday 06 was more than a worthy successor to our prior events.

We expect Doggday 07 to be scheduled for the fall of 07; don’t miss it. Doggdays are special, they seem to inspire a bit of Andrew’s magic. Best to all.

Doggday 05

We thought it would be impossible to top Doggday 04 but we were mistaken! On another picture perfect postcard day at the Bedford Golf and tennis Club, the golf and tennis tournaments again showcased the competition and camaraderie that Andrew so enjoyed. The turnout was excellent as was the caliber of play. This year all festivities were held at the Club and so after cocktails, we went straight to the award ceremony and dinner. This year a new feature was added- a live auction. The highlight no doubt was the auction by veteran auctioneer Dede Brooks of “a night with the boys” featuring Trustees Chris Brooks, Jake Grand, Nate Thorn, John Hyland and other of Andrew’s pals. And then Ben Cameron brought the house down with three hours of nonstop heart pounding entertainment. Wow! In all over $185,000 dollars was raised! We thank you all for your participation and can not wait for Doggday 06.
